The city is the center of all manufacturing but also a center for the creation of ceramic art.
Foreign ceramists (American, Japanese, European, etc.) come to set up their workshops. More recently, young Chinese ceramists, coming out of institutes, are entering the market.
Today this new generation of potters reproduce the classics but also produce functional contemporary objects or art. The city has about 500,000 inhabitants with 90% being potters.
